Late Worker Visa Renewal

Although we anonymise our case studies, we use them to illustrate common UK visa issues with which we have helped clients in the past.

The client

An individual who has been working in the Uk for some time by way of a Skilled Worker visa. However, he has forgotten to renew it, and it now expires in two weeks.

The issues

Visa processing times for Skilled Worker visas made from within the UK normally take at least eight weeks to process. However, the individual has not changed employer which helps.

The approach

The applicant can use one of the two expedited services, one of which provides a decision within five working days and the other of which will provide a decision by the end of the next working day. These expedited services do come with an additional fee to pay. The applicant will have to use the Certificate of Sponsorship information from his first visa application until such time as the employer can provide the up-to-date information which should then be submitted with an explanation as a matter of urgency.

The outcome

Using the expedited service, the individual should receive notification of the Health and Immigration Surcharge payment and of the visa renewal application approval. A visa break should be avoided.
